I am a Civil Engineer working in an MNC in Delhi. My age is 29 years, wife’s 26 years and my son’s 4 months. My father is 58 yrs old and my mother is 53 yrs old. We all are living in Delhi in our own house. I want to buy a health insurance policy for complete family.
1. Do I need to buy a single policy for all of us or
2. Do I have to buy two different policies – one for parents and one for my wife and son.
Please suggest me the best option out of the above.

As your father and mother are 58 and 53 years old, I would recommend buying separate policy for both of them with minimum sum insured of Rs. 500,000 (due to high medical cost now a days).
For yourself, wife and son, you can buy a family floater policy, if you all have no medical problem.

Thanks for your reply. Which company do you recommend? Should I go with specialist health insurer or general insurer?

I would go for specialist Health Insurer. Mostly have in house TPA so the claim processing is very fast and take less time.

Sir why don't you try Star Insurance. Star Insurance is a Chennai based insurance company which offers various plans and also for senior citizens from age 60 to 69.

If you are still not taken a Health Insurance policy you can take Maxbupa HeartBeat Family First Plan which is available in Silver and Gold plan, You can take single policy for your entire family, maximum cover available is 5 lacs invidual cover for each member of your family and 15 lacs floater cover for entire family. In this policy each member has 20 lacs maximum cover, total cover for the family would be 30 lacs.

Dear Mayur

If you are still looking for health insurance plan for your family.
We would suggest you to go for a separate cover for your parents and separate for yourself, your spouse and son. In family floaters, premium is calculated on the basis of the oldest member.
