No company provide coverage to pre-existing diseases. Pre- existing diseases are excluded from the coverage. There is waiting period of 3-5 years, before these are covered.

Coverage to pre –existing disease vary from one insurance company to another. For example -
Apollo DKV - After 3 years of continuous policy years
Cholamandalam MS General - After 3 continuous policy years where no claim, care, treatment or advice has been recommended by or received from a doctor in relation to such pre existing condition during that 3 year period
National Insurance - After 4 years of continuous policy years
ICICI Prudential - Pre existing illnesses and conditions, which are declared at inception and specifically accepted by the company would be covered
Star Health - After 5 years of continuous policy years

Some disease will be covered after paying additional premium e.g. Pre-existing diabetics/hyper tension
New India Assurance - From 2nd year, on payment of additional premium
United India Insurance - After paying an extra premium of 30 per cent

Please always mention any pre-existing condition in the proposal form, otherwise insurance company may not cover it lateron.
