Hi everyone, my name is Andrew and, as my username suggests, I am a specialist in QROPS pensions transfers.

I actually originally from the UK, and advise clients all over the world in relation to transferring their UK pension into a QROPS.

The main reason that I have joined Policy Wala is to get a better understanding of the Indian insurance market, and in particular the QROPS market.

Over the past two years, I have helped an increasing number of returning NRI's and resident Indian clients to understand the different options open to them when it comes to transferring their UK pension into a QROPS.

In this respect, I hope to be able to offer a different perspective to the QROPS market for members of Policy Wala. Whilst traditionally returning NRI's have looked to local companies such as LIC, ING Vysya, etc, there are also schemes based in other countries which may be more suitable, depending on the individual client's circumstances and requirements.

I hope to be active on this forum, answering questions on QROPS, and asking lots of questions about the Indian market.

Hello Andrew,

Welcome to policywala!

As far as I am aware that you have to buy the insurance policy from the countries you are returning in (eg. Indian companies for NRIs).

Hello Andrew,

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome, and apologies for the delay in responding to your query.

It is a popular misconception that Indian residents must transfer their UK pension into a QROPS scheme which is based in India. This is simply not true. The QROPS regime is governed by UK law, and the rules clearly state that you can transfer your UK pension into any QROPS scheme which appears on the HMRC list of approved QROPS schemes.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions.

Andrew
