Claim Rejected - No name on policy?

I have bought a old Maruti Wagon-R. I have updated the RC with my name and same is received by me on 12-10-2010. I was about to change the ownership of Insurance (TATA-AIG) from previous owner’s name to my name. On 22-10-10, I have met with an accident with damage the car tail light. I had filled the claim form with all the details. Now I got the rejection letter, saying that policy should be on your name. Now I realised that my name is not on the insurance policy.

What to do now?

Policy and RC should be in the insured name. I don't know if there is any grace period in transfer cases. Please read the rejection letter, all the info will be there.

If you had made an application to change the name then it will work. Otherwise bad luck.
