Can I open another PO MIS, jointly with my wife for 9 lacs?

I have invested 4.5 lacs in MIS in my name. Can I open another PO MIS, jointly with my wife for 9 lacs. Could you please clarify.

No. As per Rule :
" A depositor can open one or more than one POMIS account (subject to meet the condition that deposits in all accounts taken together shall not exceed rupees 4.5 lakh in single account and rupees 9 lakh in joint account)."

You could open another PO - MIS, jointly with your wife, upto 4.5 lakh, so that total PO-MIS would remain 9 Lakh in your name.
