Initial Investment - How?

Dear Friends,

I just want to invest some money in MFs and in shares and would like to ask your options for 3 top mutual funds. Suppose I will invest initially Rs. 10,000 then I want to invest 50% in full equity fund and rest - you can guide me. Then I will increase my investments in MFs after every six months.

Moreover, if I purchase shares, how to start? Shall I start from small caps or mid caps or blue chips. (Any suggestions)

What is your risk taking capacity, time period and till what time you want to invest - short term or long term etc.

I would suggest go for large caps.
