Question Invest an amount exceeding Rs. 70,000/- in PPF account

I have small query on PPF. If I invest an amount exceeding Rs. 70,000/- in my PPF account, what is the tratment is given to the additional amount? I know that I would not be eligible for tax rebate on that amount. Will Bank consider the additional amount for calculating interest? Kindly advise.

In a year the maximum amount that you can deposit in PPF is Rs. 70000 i.e they consider it as a higher limit for investment. If you deposit more than 70000, this would not be a problem. But you will not get interest for the amount exceeded Rs.70000.
