Bajaj Allianz offers 5% rebate on motor insurance premium for ladies

Bajaj Allianz is offering women a 5% discount in motor insurance premium after a study of auto claims revealed that a proportion of claims by women car owners is relatively low. The company is also offering a similar discount to government employees and teachers.

The present discounts are not a part of an underwriting-based pricing but a promotional exercise. However, from April 2010, Bajaj Allianz will upgrade its online rating engine to offer discounts based on among other things — parking facilities, where the car is driven, and the age of the owner.

I don't agree with this. Only women in metros and mini metros are driving cars. But claims generally filed by their husband, so may be thats the reason of low claim ratio.
