    Default Home Insurance Claim Declined

I have a Home Insurance for last 5 years for my flat, which covers building and contents. I have bought this insurance as requirement of my home loan. Last week, I have logged a claim for damage to my balcony. One part of the railing is went down due to rain. Now I have received a letter from my insurance company that they won’t pay for the claim as it is normal wear and tear. As far as my understanding is that insurance is bought to bring me back in the same condition as I was before the loss. Please guide – should I go to IRDA or ombudsmen for above claim?

What is the reason mentioned in the claim rejection letter?
As per your description, it's looks like your claim is normal wear and tear. Wear and Tear is not covered in any insurance policy.

I don’t think that excessive rain comes under wear and tear.
