Not paid premium for long time, how to keep old policy?

I have had lost my job in recession, so I could not pay premium on my life insurance policy. Now I am in job again, Is it possible to keep the old policy after paying the unpaid premium?

Go to nearest LIC office with policy certificate and reinstate it after paying penalty and premium.
