    Default Mediclaim premium exemption under section 80D

    If my spouse had paid medicliam premium, can I take exemption under sec 80D?

    You can claim basic deduction (Rs. 15,000) under Section 80D

    As per 80D 2(a) of the Income tax act -
    where the assessee is an individual, any sum paid to effect or to keep in force an insurance on the health of the assessee or on the health of the wife or husband, dependent parents or dependent children of the assessee;
    So you can claim.
