How to check whether my PPF account is continue or not?

I have open a PPF account in SBI in my own name and deposit 70000/- in 2007-08. Rs 500/- in 2008-09. In 2009-10 I have not deposited any amount. How to check whether my PPF account is continue or not.Is it compulsory to deposit some money in PPF A/C in every financial year?

Your PPF account is not running because it is mandatory to deposit Rs.500 every year. Now you have to reinstate your account by paying Rs.50 as reinstatement fee and 500 for year 2009-10.

Reinstatement change - 50
Min Deposit for 2009-10 - 500
Min Deposit for 2010-11 - 500
total = 1050

Go to SBI with your PPF passbook and they will let you know in second.
