Question Investment for 10 years for Kid Education?

I want to invest 5 lakhs for at least 10 years for my kid education, who currently is 10 years old. Please suggest an investment option, which is secure and gives reasonable good return in 10 years.

    Thanks,
    James

I would suggest you to invest in three parts -
Part 1 - Open a PPF account for your child and put 1 lac in it, you will also get tax rebate of 70,000 from it.
Part 2 - Invest in two or three equity Mutual fund - 2.5 lacs
    Part 3 - e-gold - 1.5 lacs

I would suggest to put some money in FD may be 1 lac. You never know stock market, some of my mutual funds are not performing for last 1.5 years and you need to review them every 6 months -1 year.
