    Are brokerage charges deductible from capital gains?

    For calculation of capital gains you can deduct Brokerage charges & Service tax there on but remember Securities Transaction tax (STT) is not deductible.

    Just to add here - If you are not in a share trading business or an agent or a broker, the service tax, STT and interest paid are not deductible.
