    Default Travel medical expenses

    Hi,

Last month my father broke her right leg during travel holiday. We are of course insured and I'm not expecting any problems with claiming the medical expenses.

Because of the accident we had to take a temporary nurse because my father was told by doctor that - no lifting, no walking etc. As we not living with him.

This(nurse) cost us Rs.4000 so I was wondering whether we have a case to claim that from our travel insurance? that was an expense that was directly linked to the accident for which we are covered.

any advice will be hugely appreciated.

    Thanks
    Girish

The Travel Insurance covers specific "Perils" (Things you are covered for), the costs of the medical treatment are covered under the medical section.

The policy will not cover "Consequential" costs such as the nurse.

There is a chance that the personal accident part of the policy may cover a small amount for "Temporary Partial Disablement" but most do not include this.
