In fire claim the original documents might also get lost in the fire, so what to do in this case?
Do insurance company accept photocopy of policy in such case?

Insurance company just need the policy no, so the photocopy would be fine. Keep all the important document scanned copy online. So in case of any emergency you would have some thing to fall back on.

Keeping scanned copy of all the documents online is a good way to deal with any emergency situation. I have prepared one online backup and keeping all my important documents there - once in a month.
