When does the travel insurance cover begin?

I am asking this question as I am planning to go to UK next month. Can I buy Travel insurance now and give the Trip Date of next month.

Travel Insurance cover would begin on the date of the travel (Only when you travel to foreign country). Not from the issue date of the policy.

This would valid for all the General insurance policies (leave mandatory policies). In Life you take cover from current date.
