It's a legal requirement as per motor vehicle act, So when you are driving on the public road you have to show it to Police.
So carrying the photocopy would not do the right thing. They (police) may issue you a challan. Cover note is advisable as proof of current insurance.2- If you are asked by the police and you don't have the original certificate with you. Will they issue a challan to you?
3- Is the photocopy of the certificate would do the needfull?
My dad is the policy holder and he doesn't keep the certificate in the car, instead it is kept in a safe place.
Thanks!
Narendra
But better talk to your dad and tell him the legal thing, he will understand.
