What all Banks Covered under RBI’s Banking Ombudsman?
All nationalized banks, public sector banks, rural banks, regional banks, foreign banks, co-operative society and other financial institutions are covered under RBI’s Banking Ombudsman.
What all complaint, you can raise with RBI’s Banking Ombudsman?
You can approach RBI’s Banking Ombudsman for following complaint categories –
1- Accounts – Pension, NRE/NRO, Current, Saving, Fixed, DEMAT
2- Cards – Credit, Debit, ATM
3- Loans and Advances – Cash Credit, Home Loan, Educational Loan, Personal Loan, Vehicle Loan, Agricultural Loan etc.
4- Others – Covers other complaint categories e.g. CIBIL.
Note – Following two condition to be met, before applying to RBI’s Banking Ombudsman –
1- You should have made a written complaint to the bank directly.
2- If the point one is ‘Yes’, whether 30 days (from the date of filing complaint) are over or you are not satisfied with Bank’s reply.
How to Register your Complaints Online with RBI’s Banking Ombudsman?
Log on to Online RBI Complaints Link and submit your complaint details and upload all the supporting documents (pdf or txt format only).
Documents you need
1- Detailed complaint letter explaining the problem
2- Any supporting documents to support you complaint
3- Copy of written complaint to the bank
4- Copy of the bank response on your complaint (if any)
Things to Take Care
1- The complaint is to be filed before the expiry of period of one year reckoned in accordance with the provisions of Clause 9(3) (a) and (b) of the Scheme.
2- The present complaint should not be presented to banking ombudsman previously by either party.
a. The subject matter of the present complaint has never been brought before the Office of the Banking Ombudsman by me/ or by any one of us or by any of the parties concerned with the subject matter to the best of my/ our knowledge.
b. The subject matter of the present complaint is not in respect of the same which was settled through the Office of the Banking Ombudsman in any previous proceedings.
c. The subject matter of the present complaint has not been decided by any forum/court/arbitrator.
