Insurance policies can be modified by using a term called endorsing a policy. A policy endorsement can be done to modify coverage’s, add or delete insured items from a policy and modifies a current policy without completely rewriting it. When an insurance policy is endorsed the premium amount paid for the policy can change.
An endorsement is a written document attached to an insurance policy that modifies the policy by changing the coverage of the policy. An endorsement can add coverage for acts or things that are not covered previously as a part of the original policy and can be added at the inception of the policy or later during the term of the policy.
Endorsements can be requested by the policyholder at any time, but have to be approved and executed by the insurer.
